Is this the future of football? Referee’s head-cam captures Real Madrid stars like never before

A unique referee’s head-camera has allowed fans to get up close and personal with Real Madrid stars, like never before, in a potentially game-changing video gizmo.

Referee Allen Chapman was equipped with a camera during the pre-season friendly between MLS All Stars and Real Madrid, which took place at Soldier Field in Chicago earlier this month.

The match finished 1-1 but Los Blancos eventually prevailed 4-2 on penalty kicks, with the key moments – including player-referee confrontations – captured quite brilliantly.

When you watch it, it gives you the feeling that you’re on the pitch.

The likes of Toni Kroos, Marcelo and Gareth Bale all featured for the Whites, while David Villa, Bastian Schweinsteiger and former Real man Kaka turned out for the opposition.
