Real Madrid and Atletico agreed a €26m deal for Theo Hernandez last week but the transfer can not yet be completed because Los Blancos have yet to pay the fee.

According to Marca, the Whites want to conclude their move for the left-back by next week at the latest, before the club’s hectic pre-season schedule gets underway which includes a trip to the United States.

The 19-year-old Frenchman spent last season on loan at Alaves but rejected the chance to extend his current deal with Atleti.

That allowed Real to swoop in for his signature and the transfer will be fully completed once Real’s money hits the bank of their city neighbours.

Hernandez is set to battle it out with Brazilian star Marcelo at full-back next term.
