Lycee Francais International Georges Pompidou (LFI) continued to prove their dominance in the National School League Football with balance on both sides of the field that makes them contenders for the title.

The Under-16 squad registered a third victory in as many games with their 4-0 defeat of JSS Private School at The Sevens in Dubai, giving them a whopping 20 goals already in the tournament.

Leading the attack was LFI playmaker Lucas Tetart, who scored a brace and assisted twice for man of the match honours.

“I was just trying to do my best for the team, not just for me personally but for everyone,” Tetart said. “I wanted to make passes, score and do whatever I could do.”

While Tetart weaved his way through the JSS defence, LFI’s backline was impressive once again in squashing any potential scoring opportunity as they recorded a third-straight clean sheet.

Despite the fact LFI are the only school across both age groups in all regions of the tournament to not yet concede a goal and sit at the top of their Dubai 1 table, Tetart bel-ieves the team is as hungry as ever.

“The coaches always tell us to never stop, so even though we’ve won every match, we want more and more victories,” Tetart said.

In Under-14, coach Mohammad Rahmatollah gave his Salman Farsi School players more freedom and the result was a 6-0 win over Springdales School. Rahmatollah was less hands-on, other than swapping player positions, and his team was up for the challenge.

Zahedi Pour Niaei Fardin and Amirabbas Mohammadi each scored a pair of goals, with the squad’s overall performance showing Rahmatollah they’re ready for bigger tests to come.

“I wouldn’t say it was their best match but they played their best game because there was half of the coaches’ interference as usual, so they were playing more with self confidence,” Rahmatollah said.

Other notable outings on the day came from U14 players Rohan Ahuja, who had four goals and two ass-ists in GEMS Modern Academy’s 12-0 victory over GEMS Winchester School, and Hriday Govind, who scored five times and assisted once to lead Delhi Private School Dubai past Credence High School, 11-0.
