Harry Maguire’s long running transfer saga appears to be over with an £85million basic deal between Leicester City and Manchester United believed to have been completed on Friday morning.

The Telegraph reported that the two clubs reached an agreement on terms for the player which meet Leicester’s requirement for money up front and add on fees likely to follow.

The teams were believed to be £15m apart in their valuation of the 26-year-old. The Red Devils had originally offered £70m plus £10m in performance add-ons for Maguire but the Foxes had been demanding £85m and £10m in bonuses.

Maguire was left out of the Leicester squad to play Serie A side Atalanta at the King Power on Friday night. The fee will be a record for a defender, eclipsing the £75m paid for Virgil Van Dirk by Liverpool in January last year.
