A second-half fightback highlighted by two stunning strikes from Anthony Martial saw Manchester United come from nowhere to almost grab a famous victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

But the Red Devils were denied by a scrambled Ross Barkley equalizer in the last seconds of extra time as the frantic match ended 2-2.

Here are our player ratings for United:

Manchester United (4-2-3-1)

David De Gea – Not required to do much before 71 minutes when he saved well to the right from Kante, superb save on the line to deny Rudiger a second but could do nothing to prevent Barkley’s follow up. 7

Ashley Young – Couple of clumsy fouls on Hazard drew a booking in 26th minute, but he warmed into the game and was solid in the second half with a game-high five tackles. 6

Victor Lindelof – A tidy performance at the back and did well to pressure Giroud in injury time, formed part of a very compact back four especially in the second half. 6

Chris Smalling – Kept Alvaro Morata relatively quiet and a great tackle on Hazard late in the match, strong in the air with a game-high five aerial duels won. 7

Luke Shaw – A very composed performance from the left back who is growing more and more into his role. Untroubled for much of the afternoon, one key pass in build up to first goal. 8

Nemanja Matic – Booked on 12 minutes for repeated fouls on Eden Hazard, became stronger as the game wore on and ended with equal game-high five tackles. 7

Paul Pogba – Switched off for Rudiger’s opening goal, switched on in the second half and played a crucial role in Martial’s goal as well as marauding forward regularly with a game high four dribbles. 7

Juan Mata – Worked hard in defence and attack without much reward in first half. Booked for a crude foul on Azpilicueta on 67 mins, set up the second goal with a speedy burst down the right to win the ball ahead of Luiz. 6

Anthony Martial – Pushed back with Rashford to play a wing back in defence as part of a back six, allowed to get forward in the second half and took both of his goals well. 8

Romelu Lukaku – Put header wide on 15 minutes, worked hard as a provider in the second half. Won four aerial duels but will be disappointed in a pass accuracy of just 58 per cent. 6

Marcus Rashford – Only bright spot in first half when he made a searching run down the right ending with a foul by Hazard, set up Martial for his second with a sharp pass. 6

Subs:

Ander Herrera – On for Mata on 75 mins to shore up the midfield, got into a good position for one shot on target and also made two tackles. 6

Andreas Pereira – On for Martial on 83 mins as Mourinho sought to close the game down, and worked well as a shield in front of back four, two tackles. N/A

Alexis Sanchez – On for Rashford on 84 mins, linked up well with Lukaku late on, booked on 93 mins. N/A
