Manchester United have been linked with a sensational move to bring back striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on loan in January, during the MLS off-season.

Ibrahimovic left United to join LA Galaxy in March, having scored 29 goals in 53 appearances for the Red Devils.

He has since found the net 21 times in 25 appearances for the Galaxy, who are hovering around the MLS play-off spots despite a mediocre season.

The Swedish striker spent a season-and-a-half at United, suffering an injury near the end of the 2016-17 campaign that kept him out for seven months.

He has long had an excellent relationship with United manager Jose Mourinho, and though his powers may be waning, his leadership ability, along with his goalscoring prowess, may be exactly what the club needs as they look to recover from a poor start to their season.
