Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia has liked an Instagram post calling for his manager Jose Mourinho to be sacked.

Following United’s dour 0-0 draw with Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday, the fan account describes watching the Red Devils play under Mourinho as ‘punishment’ before saying that Mourinho’s position at the club has become untenable.

The Valencia fan account, teamvalencia25, said: ‘I’m not even surprised about the outcome of this game. I always look forward to out games but recently Mourinho has made watching us a punishment.

‘Something needs to change. It’s time for Mourinho to go.’

It comes just days after Valencia attempted to contain rumours of a potential fall-out in the Red Devils camp by claiming Mourinho has the full backing of everyone at Old Trafford.

Man United’s goalless draw on Tuesday means Mourinho has now gone winless in four successive matches for the first time ever.
