Manchester United will demand Robert Lewandowski in any offer Bayern Munich make for Anthony Martial, according to reports.

Martial is a mercurial talent but has failed to fully live up to his potential during three seasons at Old Trafford, and both player and coach Jose Mourinho are believed to be keen on moving on.

Martial’s future remains uncertain as Mourinho is willing to sell the France international, although he is believed to only want to move him to a club outside of England.

Chelsea and Arsenal are both keen on a deal for Martial, while Bavarian giants Bayern are also interested.

According to the Sun, Mourinho remains a huge admirer of Lewandowski and has already tried to bring the 29-year-old Poland international to Old Trafford.

Should Bayern push to sign Martial before the end of the transfer window next Thursday, United will want Lewandowski included in the deal.

“Bayern are still keen and United have been after Lewandowski for a long time and want him,” a source close to United told the Sun.

“His agent is close to Jose and United and he is keeping them both in the loop along with Real Madrid.”

United’s hierarchy, meanwhile, want the sulky yet sublimely talented 22-year-old Martial to remain at the club.

He has less than a year remaining on his current contract, although United have the option to extend that for a further 12 months.
