Liverpool frontman Daniel Sturridge is proving himself as more than able understudy to Roberto Firmino after scoring crucial goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.

Sturridge has four goals across the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup so far this term with his latest an absolute rocket after rising from the bench to grab a deserved point at Chelsea.

The 29-year-old’s recent form coupled with his improved injury record has seen talk of an England recall begin to gather momentum.

And his club team-mate Georginio Wijnaldum believes Sturridge, who won his last of his 26 England caps in October 2017, should be in Gareth Southgate’s next squad.
