Watch: Julen Lopetegui says Real Madrid ‘have to be ready’ for Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui has laid down the gauntlet to his players ahead of Saturday night’s Derby clash against Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu.

In midweek, Los Blancos were humbled 3-0 at Sevilla on the same night as Barcelona also slipped up at Leganes.

But the manner of Real’s limp performance in Andalusia has raised eyebrows, with Lopetegui himself hinting that his players didn’t run enough nor work as hard as they should have.

However, the former Spain boss expects that to change when the Whites host their city rivals on home soil and look to further cement their position within La Liga‘s top two.
