Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane will join Juventus and become the Turin club’s new sporting director from October next season, according to Madrid-based online newspaper Libertad Digital.

Zidane, who left his Los Blancos hotseat after steering them to an unprecedented third consecutive Champions League triumph over Liverpool in May, could now reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at the Serie A giants.

The 46-year-old, who spent five golden years with the Old Lady before moving to the Bernabeu in a world-record deal in 2001, still has a special relationship with the Bianconeri.

Juventus’ quest to win a first Champions League trophy since 1996 is thought to be their top target next season, with Zidane’s experience at delivering European football’s biggest prize surely a big asset in assisting current boss Massimiliano Allegri, whose position will remain the same.
