Germany coach Joachim Low is confident that Leroy Sane will recover in time for the Euros next summer.

The 23-year-old is expected to miss most of the season after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament during Man City’s Community Shield win over Liverpool two weeks ago.

However, despite expressing his disappointment at Sane’s injury, Low believes the City star will be fit and firing when the Euros get underway next June.

“We were very sad and downcast when we heard about it,” Low told DAZN. “I had contact with Leroy. For him and his situation, of course, it was the worst possible time.

“We hope he will come back as soon as possible. He is a player of incredible quality and we wish him all the best.

“He will make it for the European Championship.”
