Wayne Rooney retires from international football as England’s all-time top scorer

England striker Wayne Rooney has announced his retirement from international football.

The 31-year-old – just as he would later do with Manchester United – usurped Sir Bobby Charlton as England’s all-time top scorer in 2015.
