The FIFA World Cup begins on 14 June 2018 in Russia. And after a heartbreak in the final of the 2014 edition, the upcoming World Cup could turn out to be an absolute nightmare for Lionel Messi and Argentina.

The reason, quite simple: Argentina might not even get to participate in it. Want to know why?

Argentina are currently sitting in fifth position in the World Cup Qualifying South America group standings, having played 14 matches, won six, lost four and drawn four.

Only the top four qualify to reach the all-important finals – and with four matches left – it’s touch and go whether the two-time World Cup winners will be there come next summer.

This video below from Copa90‘s YouTube channel breaks down how and why Messi can feature in the 2018 World Cup.
