Germany won Euro 2017 to clinch their second European Under-21 title after a 1-0 win over Spain in Friday’s final in Krakow.

The competition saw several young stars who impressed with their ability to perform on the big stage.

Here’s a look at five players of the tournament.

SAUL NIGUEZ

The attacker finished the tournament as top scorer having rattled in a a semi-final hat-trick against Italy to take his tally to five.

Struggled in the final, but he has already insisted he will stay at Atletico Madrid this summer.

MARCO ASENSIO

Real Madrid’s wonderkid was kept quiet in the final but he still dazzled during the tournament in Poland, scoring a hat-trick against Macedonia, and is a star of the future.

Marco Asensio

DANI CEBALLOS

Unsurprisingly a third Spain star is included, and while Saul and Asensio may have got the goalscoring glory Real Betis midfielder Ceballos was named the official Player of the Tournament.

JEREMY TOLJAN

The marauding right-back showed England up in their semi-final in Tychy and will surely make the step-up to the senior side in the near future after rejecting the chance to play for the USA last year.

Hoffenheim will have a job to keep him.

ALFIE MAWSON

Not just a token Englishman thrown in to the tournament round-up, Mawson excelled at the back for England – despite their penalty heartbreak against Germany – and Swansea will have a fight on their hands to keep him at the Liberty Stadium.
