Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2020.

Aubameyang, 26, had recently been linked with a move to the Premier League, but has put that speculation to rest with the new long-term deal.

“I’m absolutely delighted that the next years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund,” he said. “I feel very happy at the club, in this team and in this city.

“Dortmund has become like a second home to me. Every part of me wants to be here and I have never wanted to leave.”

The Gabon forward arrived in Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013 and scored 13 goals in his first Bundesliga season. He has since increased that to 41 in all competitions.

“Auba has developed outstandingly,” said Dortmund’s director of sport Michael Zorc. “We are very happy that we have been able to tie him down to a long-term contract.”

The future of Kevin Grosskreutz is increasingly uncertain, though, after the midfielder hit back at criticism from coach Thomas Tuchel.

Speaking after Dortmund’s 1-0 Europa League win over Austrian side Wolfsberg on Thursday – a trip Grosskreutz was left out of – Tuchel said that he was sick of Grosskreutz airing his opinions in public.

The 27-year-old hit-back through his Instagram page and wrote: “I always gave it my utmost, as a fan and as a player! Should I now ruin all that with my words?! Never!”
