The highly-rated striker had been linked to Liverpool and Roma but the Rossoneri have agreed to pay his £21million (Dhs120m) buyout clause to land Bacca.

A statement from AC Milan read: “AC Milan announces it has reached an agreement with Sevilla for the permanent transfer of Carlos Bacca to Milan, pending a medical that will take place in the coming days.”

Sevilla were adamant to sell Bacca, who has scored 34 goals in 71 appearances since joining Sevilla two years ago from Club Brugge. The 28-year-old has three years left on his contract and had a prolific 2014-15 campaign.

Bacca, who is currently on holiday in Colombia after competing with his national team at the Copa America in Chile, scored 20 goals in 37 appearances to help the Andalucian club finish fifth in La Liga. He also scored seven goals in the Europa League, including two in last month’s final that saw Sevilla beat Dnipro 3-2 to win the competition for a record fourth time.

A statement from Sevilla read: “Bacca leaves the club after two successful campaigns in which he has won two Europa League titles.

“Sevilla FC wishes the player the best of luck in his next chapter.” Bacca is expected to sign a four-year deal with Milan, who unlike Sevilla, will not compete in Europe next season.

Milan finished a disappointing 10th in Serie A in 2014-15 and sacked first-year coach Filippo Inzaghi at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri appointed former Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic as Inzaghi’s replacement. Bacca will become Milan’s second summer signing following the arrival of Italian midfielder Andrea Bertolacci from Roma in a 20 million euro (Dhs81m) transfer deal earlier this week.
