Manchester United target Harry Kane has no intention of leaving Tottenham and believes they have the potential to break into the top four next season.

Few could have envisaged the 21-year-old’s remarkable progress this past year, having gone from third-choice striker at his boyhood club to the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League.

Kane scored 31 goals in all competitions and that included 21 in England’s top-flight. 

Such form has earned him international recognition and led vultures to circle over north London, with United regularly linked with a summer move for Kane.

It is interest he is well aware of yet the striker, who has signed two new deals at Spurs over the past 12 months, only sees his immediate future at White Hart Lane despite that “flattering” interest.

Put to Kane there looks no better place for him to be, he replied: “For sure. Obviously we finished fifth last year and that’s knowing we can do better as well.

“We gained a year’s experience and, yeah, we are really upbeat for next season. 

“Hopefully we can push into that top four.”

Kane’s focus right now is getting England back to winning ways after their Under-21 European Championship defeat to Portugal on Thursday evening.

While determined to help the Young Lions progress to the semi-finals, he is understandably excited by the prospect of returning to Spurs and starting pre-season as an established player for the first time in his career.

“It is exciting,” Kane said. “It’s the first time I am going back (as a first-team regular) and I am looking forward to the start of the season already.

“Obviously I will probably have a little break after this, then straight back into pre-season and getting ready for the new season ahead.

“(Mauricio Pochettino’s sessions) are tough but that’s what makes you get to the top level – you’ve got to be as fit as you can and I am sure it will be hard work.

“But that’s part of it and once you have a little break you start missing that and you can’t wait to start running around again.”
