Luis Enrique declared it a “night to celebrate” as Barcelona reached their first Champions League final since 2011.

Barca were 2-1 up at the break after Neymar’s double cancelled out Mehdi Benatia’s early opener, but with the tie won they slipped down a couple of gears and were beaten by second-half goals from Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.

Enrique, however, was only concerned by the fact that his team have made it to Berlin.

He said: “It is a night to celebrate.

“Our objective has been achieved. Now it is time for a new objective: becoming champions of Europe.”

Enrique admitted there was a hint of complacency in the second-half display, adding: “Our quick goals gave us confidence.

“And in the second half, we made too many mistakes due to the scoreline.

“But I am happy with the performance. The players should be congratulated.”

With Real Madrid and Juventus meeting in the other semi-final tonight, Enrique claimed indifference about the identity of his team’s upcoming opponents: “Who do I want to win? Whoever deserves it the most.”

After watching his team defeat the English champions (Manchester City), French champions (Paris Saint-Germain) and German champions (Bayern) in successive rounds, he brushed off the suggestion that Barca had progressed to the final without any problems.

“I suffered in every game,” he said. “They were all difficult.”
