In the next gameweek (GW31), a couple of teams are fortunate enough to have two fixtures in one week, which gives managers the opportunity of a huge turnover of points.

The best thing about this double-header is that the teams involved are Aston Villa and QPR. The percentage of players that managers have from these teams is minimal. This is integral for a couple of reasons:

  • You will score points from players that other competitors won’t have. This is especially important if you are playing catch-up. Alternative selections and captains are crucial so don’t be afraid to take risks now and then.
  • You have a higher chance of the player’s price increasing because there is a larger probability they will be purchased by more people than sold.

E.g. Wayne Rooney is selected by 16.7% of players, whereas Harry Kane is selected by 48.7%. Because Kane is selected by a higher percent, the chance is greater that he will be sold – meaning his value will go down and you will lose money. However, Rooney is owned by less players, therefore there’s a greater chance he will be bought making his value rise.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa are a rejuvenated outfit under Tim Sherwood. They have won the last two matches and look like a side that will be operating in the Premier League yet again next season. Thrashing Sunderland 4-0 last week will have done the world of good for a team that has struggled to find the net this season. Before that game they had scored a mere 15 goals in 28 matches.

Fixtures:

Who should I consider from their side?

FWD – Gabby Agbonlahor (5.2m) – selected by 1.8%

The English speed merchant has scored three goals in his last two matches. Villa’s top scorer is a bargain at 5.2m and looks like the best option to bring in.

MF – Scott Sinclair (5.2m) – selected by 0.3%

Scott Sinclair is not the forgotten man anymore. It is fantastic to see the winger tearing defences apart again after such a lengthy spell spectating from the touchline.  The former Swansea star fits into Sherwood’s side perfectly and could be the hidden gem in fantasy football for the remainder of the season.

MF – Fabian Delph (4.8m) – selected by 0.9%

Known as Aston Villa’s midfield ‘hoover’, Fabian Delph is an option and would act as a great squad player. Although he is liable to the odd booking, the England international will be crucial to Villa’s survival hopes.

FWD – Christian Benteke (7.4m) – selected by 0.9%

The Belgian has had his worst season so far in the Premier League, scoring only five goals, but he has netted three in his last two games. He in on both free-kick and penalty duty which is a major reason why he is favoured over strike-partner Gabby Agbonlahor.

QPR

Things are looking bleak for the Hoops but their next few matches will determine if they manage to avoid the drop or not. Chris Ramsey’s side will fancy their chances against Everton (h), then although both their following matches are away against WBA and Aston Villa in GW31, they could certainly pick up at least one win.

Fixtures:

Who should I consider from their side?

FWD – Charlie Austin (6.4m) – selected by 19.8%

There’s only one man you can rely on from this team and that’s Charlie Austin. The former Burnley man has had a terrific season and has scored the third highest points in the league this season (135), that’s six more than Chelsea powerhouse Diego Costa.

Reminder: Once gameweek 32 has passed, remember to save some transfers to sell your Aston Villa or QPR players because they both won’t have a fixture in GW33.

Dream team: If you fancy using your wildcard…
