Gerard Pique wants to become president of Barcelona when he retires from club football, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The defender, who turns 32 in February, is willing to retire in 2020 in order to push for the role in 2021.

Pique was with the Camp Nou side from 1997-04 as a youth player before joining Manchester United for four seasons. He returned to his home club in 2008 and has been a central part of Barcelona’s defence since.

The Spaniard has won three Champions Leagues as well as a remarkable seven La Liga titles, making him one of the most decorated Barcelona players of all time.
