Pep Guardiola has revealed his desire to return to where it all began and finish his coaching career at Barcelona.

The Manchester City boss managed the Catalan giants between 2008 and 2012, leading the La Liga champions to 14 trophies during his four years in charge at the Camp Nou.

The 47-year-old coached the Barcelona B team for one season before he replaced Frank Rijkaard as first team boss and says he would like to return to work in the Blaugrana’s youth academy one day.

“I will finish again where I started… my last steps will be in the youth teams – I hope at Barca. I believe it’s – to start, it’s the best,” Guardiola told Universo Valdano.

“My time there as a coach is finished because I’m not the same as I was then, nor is the way they see me the same.

“I had the time of my life there, when the world was our oyster, with some incredible players.

“I was at a fantastic age in which I was taking on the world. We took it on with some incredible players, a young president (Joan Laporta), Txiki (Begiristain)… it was a generation of brutal players and the best player in the world (Lionel Messi). The stars aligned.”
