Paris Saint-Germain cut Marseille’s lead at the top of Ligue 1 to just a point last night with a dominant display at the Parc des Princes.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Marseille have been the early-season pacesetters in France but PSG have slowly reeled them in over the last few weeks and were well worth the victory in Le Classique.

Marseille had started strongly with Andre-Pierre Gignac striking the woodwork in the fifth minute but PSG soon asserted control and Lucas Moura fired them into a first-half lead when he connected with Ezequiel Lavezzi’s low cross.

The second period saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic make his return from injury as a 66th minute substitute while Marseille Gianelli Imbula controversially saw red.

Edinson Cavani then sealed the points with a sharp near-post header from Serge Aurier’s fine cross.
