German ‘keeper Wiese could be switching from football cleats to wrestling boots

Former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese has been without a club since January but his decision to bulk up may have paid off because he has been offered a stint in the WWE as a wrestler.

The 32-year-old was released by Hoffenheim following some poor form in which he conceded 15 goals in four matches. The huge shot-stopper arrived at the club with a massive reputation and was named captain until he was dropped after some unacceptable performances.

Wiese now weighs 18 stone and has the appropriate build to be a wrestler.

"I have an official enquiry from the WWE," Wiese said to a German tabloid called Bild.

"It's about working for them as a wrestler. I will listen. I don't s**t my pants. Why should I immediately say no? Wrestling is very popular, especially in the United Staes. I will go through the enquiry with my agent next week," said Wiese.

The powerful German international hasn't officially retired from football but he joked to Bild: "Soon I'll be so wide that the ball will no longer go past me.

"I know that I would have to work off about 15 kilos to be able to perform in goal again. I am aware that after not playing for a year and a half it would be difficult to do it again.

"I do my own thing. Some like it, some do not. I haven't got a gram of fat on me, it's all muscle."

Could this be his finishing move? We call it 'the clean sheet'.
