QPR could be refused future entry into Championship

QPR could be refused future entry into England’s second tier, the Championship, if they fail to pay a potentially huge fine for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Rangers, who will soon release their financial results, won promotion to the Premier League last season but could still be hit with a massive penalty should their losses match the £65.4million (Dh387m) they recorded for 2012- 13.

That fine could be as much £54m (Dh319.5m), although chairman Tony Fernandes (above) has indicated he would appeal.

Yet should they suffer relegation again, the Football League has the right to refuse entry to their competitions, and chief executive, Shaun Harvey, said: “We are satisfied we still have the ability under our regulations to charge them for a breach of our rules whilst they were in membership.”
