No chance! Pulis laughs off reports of return to Crystal Palace

Former Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has categorically denied reports claiming he could be set for a return to Selhurst Park.

Pulis was named Premier League Manager of the Year last season having led Palace to 11th in the table after taking over in November with the club sitting rock bottom of the table having collected just four points from their opening 11 fixtures.

However, the Welshman sensationally quit the Eagles just days before the start of the new season amid reports of a falling out with owner Steve Parish over the club’s transfer policy.

A succession of managers have been linked with the vacancy, most notably former Cardiff boss Malky Mackay, although his appointment fell through after the emergence of sordid revelations relating to his time with the Bluebirds.

Among the names linked with the Palace post has, surprisingly, been Pulis, with reports suggesting he could return to the club.

But the former Stoke manager has vehemently denied the speculation, while admitting he is a “little disappointed” not to still be in charge.

“Having spent the whole pre-season working with the players – going to Austria, America and Germany – to prepare everything for the new season and not to get started with them is a little a disappointing,” said Pulis in the beIN Sports studio in Doha.

“But a situation arose where we amicably came to an agreement, and I’m here with you instead!”

When pressed whether he could go back to Palace, Pulis replied: “Going back where? No, no. No chance.”
