Man City to offer captain Kompany new six-year mega deal

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is set to sign a new bumper deal that will keep him at the Premier League champions for the rest of his career.

Despite agreeing a long-term contract in 2012, the Belgian defender will be offered a six-year deal worth a reported £200,000 (Dhs 1.24m) a week, with a total value of £60m (Dhs 371m).

Kompany, 28, has been an ever-present in the City back-line since joining from Hamburg in 2008, playing a pivotal role in the club's two Premier League titles as well as their 2011 FA Cup triumph and 2014 League Cup win.

The Belgium captain is set to be joined in the heart of the City defence by Eliaquim Mangala, who is close to sealing a £32m (Dhs 198m) move from Portuguese giants Porto.

The 23-year-old France international will provide Manuel Pellegrini a further option at centre-half – a position that at times proved problematic last season.

A series of injuries to Matija Nastasic limited the Serbian's campaign and while Argentine Martin Demichelis improved after a shaky start to his City career, at 33-years-old is not a long-term solution.
