Paris St-Germain have confirmed the signing of Chelsea's Brazil defender David Luiz for a reported £50m (Dhs311.4m).

The Brazilian will join the Ligue 1 champions after the World Cup and will partner fellow countryman Thiago Silva at the heart of the Parisian defence.

Both started alongside each other during Brazil's 3-1 win over Croatia last night and their understanding will be something the PSG fans hope they can replicate at domestic level next season.

Luiz said his goodbyes to Chelsea fans in an open letter last month on a post to his Instagram account.

In his message, the 27-year-old thanked the fans and staff at the club after three years in London.

Meanwhile, Chelsea yesterday announced the signing of Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.
