Romania hopes of a first victory at Euro 2016 were given a huge boost after Bogdan Stancu netted the opening goal against Switzerland.

The referee awarded the penalty after Stephan Lichtsteiner shirt-tugged the inrushing Alexandru Chipciu.

Stancu stepped up to nestle the ball in the bottom corner to give his side an early 1-0 lead.

The Genclerbirligi man has now scored two goals in two games after scoring in the opening match against France on Friday.
