Two weeks into the new Fantasy Premier League this season and every team has now been in action.

We’ve caught our first glimpses of Manchester United, Manchester City, Burnley and Aston Villa over Gameweek 3 and have more decisions in front of us.

Here are a few tips to help guide you through GW3.

CAPTAIN – TIMO WERNER | CHELSEA | 9.5M

After boasting an ownership of nearly 50 per cent going into the new season, Timo Werner’s stock has plummeted in the two GWs since. He’s down to 36 per cent and dropping at the time of writing.

However, the Chelsea striker has looked electric in parts and would’ve added a second assist for the season had Jorginho converted the penalty he won in GW2 like he did in GW1.

Werner’s searing pace and clever movement is bound to unlock defences and West Brom’s has proved particularly easy to pick having conceded eight goals already, two more than any other team so far.

It’s only a matter of time until the German breaks out and there’s no reason why it can’t happen in GW3. If you’re playing catch-up in your league, he’s a potentially game-changing differential captain.

ALTERNATIVE

SON HEUNG-MIN (9.0m) has to be part of this conversation after his phenomenal four-goal haul against Southampton. Newcastle aren’t going to play into Tottenham’s hands the way the Saints did and will employ a much deeper line but the South Korean is consistent and could still deliver though not as spectacularly.

BOLD CHOICE

MOHAMED SALAH (12.1m) blanked against Chelsea but he leads the league for shots [13] and key passes [9]. Arsenal have set up well against top-six sides of late but their system will occasionally offer the Egyptian a chance to isolate a centre-back.

ONE TO GET

KEVIN DE BRUYNE | MANCHESTER CITY | 11.6M

Kevin De Bruyne was always in our shopping carts and now that he’s proved his worth [not that it was ever really in doubt] with a double-figure haul at Wolves, we should head straight to the checkout counter. He bagged a goal, an assist and registered six key passes in a stunning display against a formidable opposition. Welcome to our teams for the rest of the season, Kev.

ONE TO AVOID

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG | ARSENAL | 11.9M

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was our captain pick for the first two GWs and came through with modest returns of a goal and an assist. However, Arsenal’s fixtures take a turn now with away fixtures at Liverpool, City and United over the next five GWs. Home matches against Sheffield and Leicester in that period don’t sound very appealing either and Aubameyang is a convenient cut in order to pick up De Bruyne.

BARGAIN BUY

DANIEL PODENCE | WOLVES | 5.6M

With Diogo Jota’s move to Liverpool, Daniel Podence has already impressed as the new man at the forefront of a dynamic Wolves attack alongside Raul Jimenez. His emergence has seen Adama Traore relegated to a wing-back role to fill the void left by Matt Doherty’s departure so Podence isn’t even facing stiff competition for his role in attack. He has two assists to his name and looks destined for more returns.
