Arsenal player ratings as Aubameyang’s one moment of class earns draw at Man United

Arsenal and Manchester United both failed to produce much quality during a 1-1 draw on Monday night.

Old Trafford witnessed an error-strewn performance with Axel Tuanzebe’s stray pass leading to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring the equaliser for the away side in the 58th minute.

Scott McTominay’s effort from range handed United the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils despite an intense last 20 minutes.

Here, we rate the Arsenal players.

STARTING XI (4-3-3)

Leno 6 – A couple of routine saves to make and denied Marcus Rashford from a late free-kick but was helpless against McTominay’s effort.

Chambers 6 – Did relatively well against a lively Daniel James and even showed the industry to get forward himself.

Luiz 6 – Largely solid at the back but a reckless streak returned at the death when he conceded a free-kick on the edge of the box.

Sokratis 6 – Not really stretched by either Jesse Lingard or Rashford. Never looked in any trouble.

Kolasinac 5 – No impact in attack, failing to even register a cross.

Torreira 5 – Shackled Paul Pogba for long periods of the first half and was a bundle of energy. Scuffed his half-volley from close range.

Xhaka 4 – Poor display from the Arsenal skipper. Sloppy on the ball and only ever got close to opponents to foul them.

Guendouzi – Excellent at retaining possession and was evasive in the middle of the park, winning several free-kicks.

Pepe 4 – Still looks unsettled in the Premier League. Offered little in attack and wasted decent chances to hit the target.

Aubameyang 7 – Anonymous for most of the game but came to life and did the job when presented with an opportunity like any elite strikers.

Saka 7 – Promising young talent. Played the pass for Aubameyang’s goal and nearly put Arsenal ahead moments later but for a deflection off an unassuming Victor Lindelof.

SUBS

Ceballos (55′) 5 – Didn’t get on the ball enough as he should’ve but was steady in midfield.

Nelson (74′) 5 – Had one tame effort when he failed to connect well with Aubameyang’s pass.

Willock (80′) N/A – Only one for the last 10 minutes for Saka.
