Mohamed Salah fans have been left stunned after the Egyptian star apparently quit social media.

The Liverpool striker posted a cryptic tweet to his 7.8million followers last night, and has subsequently now deleted his Twitter account.

Fans of the attacker, who has over 40 million followers across his social media platforms, will be shocked by his sudden digital hiatus.

The 26-year-old has been in stunning form of late having notched his 50th Premier League goal last weekend in the Reds’ 4-3 win over Crystal Palace.

Only three players – Andy Cole (65), Alan Shearer (66) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (68) – have reached the landmark in as few games as the 72 it has taken the former Roma man to reach his half-century.

But his latest tweet has left many fans confused as to the real message behind the post.

Salah wrote: “2019 Resolution: Time to get in touch, for real.”

Some supporters believe Salah’s tweet is in reference to his dispute with the Egyptian Football Association due to a disagreement over image rights.

The Egyptian FA used Salah’s image on the side of the official Egyptian national team airplane in the build up to the World Cup last summer, along with logos of the team’s sponsors.

One of those sponsors is Telecom Egypt which conflicts with Salah’s endorsement deal with rival company Vodafone.

It is believed the tweet could refer to his plans to put the issue behind him in 2009.
