Jose Mourinho has urged Arsenal boss Unai Emery to find a balance with respect to the Mesut Ozil situation.

The German’s last start came against Brighton on December 26 after struggling with a back injury before he was overlooked by Emery in the starting XI.

Mourinho, who worked with Ozil during their time at Madrid, has offered Emery some advice to get the best out of the German.

“He played incredibly with me and perhaps with Unai, he isn’t doing that,” he told beIN Sports.

“But maybe another player will have played great with Emery and with me he will not be so good.

“Ozil is the kind of a player who needs a balance and you can just be very hard with him.

“You have to give him affection but it isn’t only about showing him love as you must also be demanding with him so there must be a balance.”
