Mesut Ozil was named as Arsenal captain for their Premier League clash with Burnley after his place in the Gunners squad was questioned during the week.

Head coach Unai Emery said on the eve of the game that the German was not assured of a spot in the team despite being the club’s highest earner.

Ozil was dropped from the squad for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Tottenham and had not started in the league since November 11 before his recall against the Clarets.
