Raheem Sterling has been named the Premier League‘s player of the month for November.

He scored three goals and assisted another three during the month, helping Manchester City weather the loss of Sergio Aguero to injury.

The news comes just days after Sterling was the target of racist abuse during City’s 2-0 loss to Chelsea at the weekend, a moment that saw the player put out a powerful statement regarding racism in football, and especially by football media.

He has been widely praised for his reaction, which has provoked another round of debate regarding the treatment of black and minority ethnic players.

His form on the pitch has also been earning praise, with the league’s accolade the latest recognition of the player’s increasing significant.
