Gameweek 14 in Fantasy Premier League produced a few things FPL managers hate – surprises.
Manchester City stalwarts Sergio Aguero and David Silva were both rested for an inviting Premier League fixture at home to Bournemouth. Perhaps even more surprisingly, Romelu Lukaku scored for Manchester United.
City travel to Watford in midweek while United host an Arsenal side firing on all cylinders, led by chief gunslinger Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Chelsea and Liverpool are also on the road, facing Wolves and Burnley respectively while Tottenham will look to bounce back at home to Southampton.
Here are a few tips ahead of Gameweek 15.
CAPTAIN – HARRY KANE | TOTTENHAM | 12.4M
It’s finally Harry Kane time. The striker’s early season form understandably had FPL managers running for the hills, but his performances have improved dramatically of late.
His three goals and an assist in the last four GWs confirm has him looking more like his prolific old self and it seems like he could explode now at any moment.
Following a disappointing defeat in the north London derby – although he still converted from the spot – Kane will be eager to get Spurs back on tack at home to relegation-threatened, Southampton who have conceded 12 goals in their last four league games and have recently sacked manager Mark Hughes.
Kane’s underlying stats have seen a marked improvement as well with the England skipper registering more shots (22) than any other player in the last six GWs.
He should be confident coming into this fixture, one in which he bagged a hat-trick last season.
ALTERNATIVES
MOHAMED SALAH (13.0) blanked in the Merseyside derby but he still created four chances and should’ve picked up at least a couple of assists if his team-mates (we’re looking at you, Sadio Mane) were more clinical. He remains a prime candidate for the captaincy, especially with Mane expected to miss Liverpool’s trip to Burnley who have conceded more shots than any other team in the league.
RAHEEM STERLING (11.5m) has been a lean mean scoring machine this season and if Pep Guardiola has his way, the Englishman will only improvement in front of goal. He’s delivered a whopping 54 points in the last five GWs with four goals and five assists. With Aguero likely to miss out again, City will need their prolific winger to fire again away to Watford.
BOLD CHOICE
GYLFI SIGURDSSON (7.4m) has been in fine form and impressed against Liverpool as well. The Everton midfielder has been incredibly consistent, delivering returns in five of the last eight GWs. The Toffees entertain Cardiff City at Goodison Park next and Sigurdsson could prove to be a sweet differential pick.

TWO TO WATCH
FELIPE ANDERSON | WEST HAM | 7.1M
Felipe Anderson is one of the most transferred in players ahead of GW15 and it’s easy to see why. The West Ham winger has bagged four goals in his last four outings, picking up six bonus points over that period, and enjoyed an impressive showing against Newcastle in GW14. The next time the Hammers face one of the ‘big six’ will be in GW22.

LEROY SANE | MANCHESER CITY | 9.4M
While everyone seems to be flocking to Sterling, Leroy Sane has been quietly plugging away. Since Benjamin Mendy has been ruled out following knee surgery, the German seems to be a mainstay on that left wing which otherwise lacks width. He’s 2.1m cheaper than Sterling and still has an ownership of just nine per cent. He’s delivered in each of his last three starts, scoring three and assisting four goals.

TWO TO AVOID
SERGIO AGUERO | MANCHESTER CITY | 11.4M
Opting to drop FPL royalty like Aguero is always a bold move, but is warranted on this occasion. He hasn’t been himself lately and Guardiola revealed that the Argentine has been carrying a muscle injury, leading to his omission from the squad in GW14. He’s unlikely to feature against Watford and with Gabriel Jesus back, Guardiola may be inclined to use the injury-prone Aguero sparingly now on order to prevent a breakdown in the near future. It’s worth moving to Kane or even reinvesting in a City midfielder.
RUBEN NEVES | WOLVES | 5.0M
How is Ruben Neves still owned by over 15 per cent of FPL managers? The Wolves midfielder has blanked in every GW bar two this season and has now picked up a suspension ahead of this round. If a budget midfielder is the requirement then think Solomon March (5.0m) or David Brooks (5.1m). If he’s just serving as bench fodder, it’s worth switching to a 4.5m midfielder instead and using the excess 0.5m elsewhere.
