Petr Cech thwarted his former side with saved penalties in normal time and in a shootout as Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the International Champions Cup in Dublin.

The Gunners’ shot stopper kept out Alvaro Morata from the spot in the first half as Maurizio Sarri’s Blues dominated, with Germany centre-back Antonio Rudiger heading them in front.

Unai Emery’s Arsenal got better in the second half and Alexandre Lacazette equalised with only 17 seconds left to earn penalties.

Both sides scored their first five, but Cech decisively saved from England’s World Cup 2018 midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alex Iwobi struck the winning effort from 12 yards.
