Unai Emery expects Alex Iwobi to sign a new deal at Arsenal, saying the two sides are close to agreeing a new contract.

Iwobi’s current deal has two years left, but the new Arsenal manager is keen to tie the Nigerian winger down to a long-term commitment.

The 22-year-old has struggled to hold down a starting place at Arsenal with several big-name players ahead of him in the pecking order, but Emery is ready to give the youngster championship.

“My information is, (Iwobi) is going to sign, to continue with us,” Emery said.
