Man City’s Sergio Aguero leads Fantasy Premier League form tables

Sergio Aguero still leads the Fantasy Premier League form tables – but if you want a short-term boost, look to Liverpool.

Despite not scoring in his last two games as he awaits his 200th Manchester City goal, Aguero has eight plus an assist in his last six matches.

His next chance for 200 will come at Stoke on Monday but with the FA Cup hammering next week’s top-flight fixture list, to get value for your transfers it may be worth focusing on the eight teams also in action on March 17.

Red alert

That is where Liverpool come in. They provide five of the top 10 in Press Association Sport’s form rankings, led by top scorer Mohamed Salah with 89.1 out of a possible 100 – Aguero, for reference, currently scores 93.5.

Only Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland splits an otherwise all-Anfield top five, while the goodwill generated by Andy Robertson’s recent gesture to a young fan is matched by the modest full-back’s increasing on-field influence.

Butland is joined in the list by team-mate Xherdan Shaqiri, who has three goals and an assist in his last six games, while Watford also provide two players and Crystal Palace’s Luka Milivojevic shows the importance of knowing your penalty takers.

Feel free

Of course, fantasy football is a marathon not a sprint and if you still have your ‘Free Hit’ token in the bank, you may decide to keep that in hand for week 31 and focus on overall bargain buys.

Lukasz Fabianski and Nick Pope continue to provide value in goal – though if rolling with the latter, keep a close eye on fitness updates concerning Burnley’s previously established number one Tom Heaton.

In defence north London provides the top-scoring sub-£6million players in Tottenham’s Ben Davies and Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal, though both Manchester United’s Phil Jones and Leicester’s ever-present Harry Maguire have three figures at £5.5m.

Milivojevic and Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure provide pound-for-pound value as well as being in action next week, while Brighton’s Glenn Murray is close to supplanting Wayne Rooney as the cheapest 100-point striker – he has 97 at £5.9m after scoring five goals in as many games.
