Mohamed Salah and the Liverpool front three have outscored 14 other Premier League clubs this season

14:34 02/03/2018

The Liverpool front three – Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and of course Mohamed Salah – have set the Premier League alight with their goal-scoring efforts this season.

Going into the weekend Salah sits second on the Premier League top scoring list – just one goal behind Spurs’ Harry Kane on 24, though it may be more as Spurs host Huddersfield prior to the Reds kick-off against Newcastle at Anfield.

Firmino sits equal fifth on the list on 13 goals, alongside two of the Premier League’s best strikers – Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United and Leicester’s Jamie Vardy.

Sadio Mane makes it three current Liverpool players in the top 20 with seven goals.

No wonder the Reds fans are making up songs about them.

It’s a stunning return for the remains of the Fab Four – now reduced to a trip with Philippe Coutinho’s departure for Barcelona in January.

What makes the statistic even more impressive is when you compare it to other teams in the English top flight.

Looking at the goals scored in this year’s Premier League, currently Mane, Firmino and Salah’s combined total of 43 would rank them above 14 other clubs including 2015/16 champions Leicester, seventh-placed Burnley and Merseyside rivals Everton.

The Reds trio has also led to Liverpool ranking highly in Europe with only four teams having scored more league goals – 65 – than them this season on the continent – Paris Saint-Germain (84), Manchester City (82), Barcelona (69) and Monaco (67).

Closer to home in a stat sure to delight all Reds fans – the front three of the Reds have outscored the front seven of Manchester United.

Lukaku (13), Anthony Martial (9), Jesse Lingard (8), Marcus Rashford (4), Paul Pogba (3), Juan Mata (3) and Alexis Sanchez (1) have only managed 41 goals between them – two behind the Liverpool trio.
