Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed he is unsure whether the Blues are trying to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window.

The Chilean has been linked with the Stamford Bridge club in recent days, adding to widespread speculation that Manchester United were favourites to land him.

Manchester City pulled out of the race for the 29-year-old at the weekend after being scared off by an escalating transfer fee demanded by the Gunners, believed to be in the region of £35m, and big wage demands from the player.

But, with Chelsea rumoured to be interested in securing a deal to sign Sanchez this month, Conte seemed to be none the wiser when asked about the situation ahead of his team’s FA Cup replay clash with Norwich on Wednesday.

“I don’t think so,” he said, in response to a question about whether the club were tracking the forward.
