Man City vs Spurs player ratings: Kevin de Bruyne scores a 9 but just 5 for Harry Kane

Manchester City‘s rampant form continued as they made it 16 wins in a row, defeating Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham 4-1 in the process, on Saturday night.

Here, we take a look at the player ratings from both teams as Pep Guardiola’s men extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

MANCHESTER CITY

Ederson – 7

Important stop to deny Kane with the game still in the balance at start of second-half.

Kyle Walker – 7

Up against his former club and solid. Will have been disappointed to be denied a clean sheet at the end.

Nicolas Otamendi – 7

A bit reckless at times, but still helped to handle the threat of Kane.

Eliaquim Mangala – 7

Enjoying the first-team spotlight again and can’t really fault the Frenchman.

Fabian Delph – 6

Linked well with Sane on the left but picked up yellow card for rash lunge on Trippier.

Kevin de Bruyne – 9

Majestic once more. Tricks, flicks and the pick of the bunch.

Fernandinho – 7

Tireless and tenacious, the workhorse and warrior in the City midfield.

Gundogan – 8

Provided intelligence and inspiration with his goal and setting up quick attacks.

Can anyone catch City at the top?

Sane – 8

A welcome return to form for the German after a much-needed rest. Stylish in attack and useful contributions at the back.

Sterling – 7

Scored two, could have had five. Wasteful but getting in the right positions.

Aguero – 6

Always a threat but perhaps a lack of pressing the Spurs defence saw him benched earlier than expected.

SUBS

Jesus (for Aguero 58′) – 6

Lively contribution from the Brazilian to help swing the game back in City’s favour – but should have let De Bruyne take penalty that he missed.

Foden: (for Gundogan 83′) – 6

The 17-year-old was given a taste of action and looked comfortable.

Bernardo (for Sane 85′) – 7

Instant impact with shot against foot of post and glorious pass for Sterling’s second.

TOTTENHAM

A night to forget for Hugo Lloris.

Hugo Lloris – 6

Kept the score down with several good saves, but his efforts proved futile.

Kieran Trippier – 5

Endured a torrid time against Sane and unable to offer support at the other end.

Eric Dier – 4

Constantly unsettled and unnerved by the home side’s attacking storm and caught out repeatedly.

Jan Vertonghen – 5

Found it tough against the pace-fuelled City attack and fouled De Bruyne for the spot-kick.

Danny Rose – 5

Heavily involved but for the wrong reasons. Could have conceded two penalties for push on Mangala and handball.

Mousa Dembele – 5

Struggled to get a foothold in midfield and over-run.

Harry Winks – 5

Like Dembele, saw little of the ball and constantly chasing the City runners.

Dele Alli – 5

A frustrated and forlorn figure and showed it with over-the-top challenge that could have caused a lot more damage to De Bruyne’s ankle.

A disappointing night for Spurs.

Christian Eriksen – 6

Busy, but not enough for a player of his ilk. A real struggle for the Dane but claimed a late consolation.

Son Heung-min – 5

Influential in recent weeks, but completely anonymous here.

Harry Kane – 5

Curled an opportunity inches wide in the first half and tested Ederson, but lucky not to see red for studs-up challenge on Sterling.

SUBS

Erik Lamela (for Son 77′) – 5

A nice run after coming on, but hardly involved after that.

Moussa Sissoko (for Alli 84′) – 5

A booking was all he had to show for his late appearance.

Ben Davies (for Rose 89′) – 4

A strange substitution with the game already decided.
