Mohamed Salah’s phenomenal start at Liverpool – Seven deadly stats

Mohamed Salah couldn’t have dreamed of a better start to his Liverpool career.

He already has 17 goals for the club in all competitions and is leading the way in the Premier League with 14 strikes to his name.

It’s not just about the numbers either, he’s scored a few truly special goals and has proved capable of a variety of finishes.

Nevertheless, the numbers are indeed staggering so here’s a look at seven deadly stats from his incredible start.

MAIN CONTRIBUTOR

Liverpool have a wealth of attacking talent at their disposal but Salah has established himself as the main man. The Egyptian has scored the lion’s share of their goals in the Premier League so far.

Leading the league with 12 strikes, he’s accounted for 43% of the team’s tally, only Harry Kane at Tottenham (45%) has contributed a greater share towards his team’s goals.

RED-HOT FORM

Salah was quick off the blocks in a Liverpool shirt and much like his running style, has only accelerated since. The last few games have seen him put together a particularly impressive run.

He’s now scored three braces in his last four Premier League games, bagging seven goals in that time.

FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS

If you don’t shoot, you don’t score. Salah’s made sure that he’s had enough attempts though with 43 shots in the league this season. Only Kane has more with 54.

While the Tottenham man is his team’s star striker though, Salah is technically a winger and the number of shots he’s having is a testament to just how much of a threat he is with his ability to drift into space in central positions.

MO EFFICIENT

While his numbers against the appearances he’s made is remarkable, what’s even more impressive is his efficiency in terms of minutes.

Salah doesn’t waste time once he crosses that touchline. He’s managed a goal or assist every 74.78 minutes this season in the league.

SETTING THE BAR

In the last three seasons, no Liverpool player has hit the 15-goal mark in all competitions. Steven Gerrard was the leading scorer for the club in the 2014/15 campaign with 13 goals, a tally matched by Daniel Sturridge in the following season.

Meanwhile, Philippe Coutinho led the way with 14 strikes last term. In his first season at the club, Salah already has 17 goals and it’s only November. The Egyptian is setting the pace.

Leading the pack

MO THAN A MANE

Sadio Mane was recognised as Liverpool’s chief goal threat over the past couple of seasons and no one would begrudge him that title.

It is then all the more scary to think that Salah already has any goals for Liverpool as the Senegalese international just four months into his tenure.

PRIDE OF EGYPT

As if his performances and ultimately decisive penalty kick to take Egypt to the World Cup wasn’t enough, Salah is making history as one of the best goal scorers the nation has produced.

With 32 goals in 2017, he’s now scored more than any other Egyptian in a calendar year and still has games to come in December.
