Arsenal’s problems were laid bare at Anfield on Sunday as they crashed to a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Alexis Sanchez failed to inspire Arsene Wenger’s side as Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge all got on the score sheet.
Liverpool were in rampant mood and Arsenal simply had no answer.

Effectiveness
Arsenal were horrendous on the day and Sanchez was barely in the game as a result. He did go on a decent in the 15th minute but opportunities were hard to come by for him.
He showed glimpses of his skill with some quick feet and was strong on the ball, not easily brushed off it, but he didn’t seem to possess his trademark relentlessness that is usually so irresistible.
Playing on the left side of a front three, the Chilean failed to get the better of Joe Gomez and didn’t manage to execute his diagonal runs through the middle. He was eventually substituted in the 62nd minute.
Key moments
15th min: Sanchez cuts in from the left with purpose and tries to dink a ball through to Hector Bellerin but Joel Matip steps in to intercept.
35th min: Arsenal attack on the break with Sanchez eventually getting on the ball in the box but the flag is raised for offside.
48th min: Sanchez shows some quick feet on the edge of the area to create a yard for himself and lets fly with a thunderous effort but Giorgino Wijnaldum makes a crucial block.
Our verdict
The Chilean looked off the pace and didn’t seem to wear his heart on his sleeve like he normally would. Did the rumours linking him away from the club play a part in his performance?
Ultimately though, Sanchez was not the worst Arsenal player on the pitch on Sunday and can’t be held entirely responsible for his ineffectiveness on this occasion.
