In the mid-1990s, Liverpool were a different side to what we know now. Their title drought was less than a decade long and they were still regularly competing at the top of the table.

In a squad that featured the likes of youth products Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp, and Robbie Fowler alongside an experienced core that included goalkeeper David James, managed by Liverpool legend Roy Evans, the Reds had a thrilling team – full of dashing young stars that soon became known as the Spice Boys.

Their nickname was earned not only for their stylish play on the field but for their glamourous lifestyle off of it – David James modeled for Armani and Jason McAteer advertised Head & Shoulders.

The squad’s landmark game came against Newcastle in 1996, a game widely regarded as one of the best in Premier League history. Two title-chasing sides served up an instant classic, with Liverpool winning 4-3.

Manchester United won the title that year but Newcastle and Liverpool captivated audiences across the country, and the Spice Boys became one of the best groups of players to never win a league title.
