Paul Pogba says he takes inspiration from players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Michael Carrick as he aims to become one of the leaders in the Manchester United team.

“I’ve been playing for one season, [but] I came here to hopefully be a leader in the team,” Pogba said.

“We want to grow as players and leaders as well.”

Pogba said Ibrahimovic is still a “big leader” for Manchester United as the Swede is “still in the team”, showing how influential the 35-year-old is within the squad even though he is no longer officially a United player, at least for the time being.

“I can learn from him and Carrick, from the older players and become a leader,” Pogba said.

Jose Mourinho praised Pogba on Tuesday, saying the Frenchman is already a leader among the young players in the squad.
