Manchester City were in fine form at the Etihad Stadium a they obliterated Crystal Palace 5-0.

Elsewhere, reigning champions Leicester City cruised to a 3-0 win over Watford and a relegated Sunderland side battled to 2-0 victory over Hull City.

SILVA STILL THE MAIN MAN FOR CITY BUT NEEDS REPLACING

David Silva scored his 50th goal for City as they put five past Sam Allardyce’s men and the Spaniard was the heartbeat of the team yet again.

For all of Kevin De Bruyne’s brilliant qualities and despite his outstanding contributions this, including leading the league with assists (14), he still can’t quite touch Silva when it comes to dictating play in the final third.

The 31-year-old however, is no longer at his peak and others have failed to step up when he hasn’t been on song this season.

LEICESTER WILL BE JUST FINE

The champions endured a horrific first half of the season so much so that they were one of the favourites to be relegated. Claudio Ranieri’s sacking, however controversial or questionable at the time, proved to be the turning point.

Craig Shakespeare took over, went back to basics and led The Foxes to the Champions League quarter-finals and back up the Premier League table. The 3-0 win over Watford was just the latest chapter in the story of their revival.

Leicester are ninth in the table and could well catch West Brom in eighth before the season concludes. They were never expected to retain their title and a Europa spot would’ve been a success. But given their struggles earlier on in the season, a top 10 finish is more than they could’ve hoped for at one point. They can definitely push on now and hope for more next season.

WEST BROM HAVE A READY-MADE MCAULEY REPLACEMENT IN DAWSON

Sam Vokes would’ve stolen headlines with his brace that earned Burnley a vital point in their bid to escape relegation but the match also featured another goal for Craig Dawson.

Gareth McAuley has been turning heads with his form in front of goal this season but Dawson, 10 years his junior, isn’t far behind at all. While the 37-year-old McAuley has bagged six goals in the league this season, Dawson has four to his name now.

Defensively, there’s been nothing to choose from between the two central defensive partners. Dawson is the 10th best in the league when it comes to winning aerial duels (129) while McAuley is 14th (112).

With the latter approaching the end of his career, Tony Pulis will be pleased with the fact that in Dawson he has a defender with similar qualities and sufficient experience to command the back-line in the future.
