Premier League Permutations: What can be decided this weekend

With just four weeks until the end of the season, we’re well and truly into the business end of the campaign.

Whether it’s the Premier League title itself, Champions League qualification, a Europa League spot or battles with relegation, fates are being sealed.

This weekend presents the opportunity for a few teams to secure European places while one club may find themselves demoted to the Championship.

Here’s a look at what this Premier League weekend could decide.

EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFICATION

Not exactly the European spot they are gunning for but Manchester City and Manchester United could both seal a Europa League place with wins this weekend.

City no doubt will continue to push to secure a top four finish while United will turn to winning the Europa League itself for a spot in next season’s Champions League.

City host Crystal Palace on Saturday while United travel to Arsenal on Sunday.

SAFETY

A lot of eyeballs will be on Swansea City when they face Everton on Saturday. A win for Ronald Koeman’s men would automatically ensure safety for a whopping seven teams.

West Ham United, Burnley, Watford, Stoke City, Leicester City, Bournemouth and Southampton will all be preparing for another season in England’s top flight should Swansea lose.

Meanwhile, if Sam Allardyce’s Palace win or draw against City and Swansea lose to the Toffees, the Eagles will join the above list of clubs in securing safety.

RELEGATION

Middlesbrough are really up against it and will need a miracle to stay up at this point.

If Hull City get at least a point against Sunderland on Saturday and the Riverside club lose to Chelsea on Monday, they will be relegated.
