Following Manchester City’s win over Barcelona, many Fantasy Premier League managers have flocked to Ilkay Gundogan and they’re not wrong.

Also, here’s a look at why Sergio Aguero could be the ideal captain this week.

But first, a shout out to these tactical geniuses who top our Sport360 fans league going into this week!

WHO TO PICK AS CAPTAIN

Alexis Sanchez (11.4m) was the pick last week and he definitely came through with two goals and two bonus points which added up to 13. However, with the North London derby this weekend, perhaps Sergio Aguero (13.1m) is a better option.

Those who kept faith in the Argentine last week were handsomely rewarded as a brace and assist saw the City striker top score with 16 points.

Pep Guardiola’s side entertain Middlesbrough at the Etihad on Saturday and confidence should be sky-high after their historic victory over Barcelona in midweek.

It seems as though Aguero has worked his way into Guardiola’s plans as the preferred choice upfront. It’s still too early to be absolutely certain but he did start against Barcelona and did well.

Following his performance against West Brom last week as well, he should be one of the first names on the team sheet for Saturday’s fixture.

THREE MIDFIELDERS OF VALUE

ILKAY GUNDOGAN (Manchester City – 5.6m)

After four goals and an assist in his last two outings, Gundogan has quickly become an FPL must-have, particularly with a criminally low price of just 5.6 million.

Over 250,000 managers have drafted in the German midfielder. Gundogan was thought to operate as a defensive midfielder at City but of late it’s become clear that he is enjoying the freedom to play further up and is timing his forward runs to perfection.

He is turning into the player who ghosts into the box unmarked and that will see him notch up quite a few points.

YANNICK BOLASIE (Everton – 6.1m)

Yannick Bolasie was the chief threat at Crystal Palace last year but he has already matched his number of assists from the previous campaign.

The winger has provided four assists so far, just one behind league leader Kevin De Bruyne.

JOE ALLEN (Stoke City – 5.2m)

There’s no point ignoring it anymore. Joe Allen continues to deliver the goods. Whether it will last is debatable but there is evidence that the Welshman is playing in a far more attacking role than he has been in recent seasons.

He’s gone from being a midfielder primarily concerned with recycling possession to one that regularly gets into the box and finds himself in goal-scoring positions.

ONE TO WATCH – VICTOR MOSES

This is an interesting one. Since Antonio Conte’s made the switch to 3-4-3, Chelsea have looked like a different side – and Victor Moses has looked a different player.

After a series of loan spells in the last three seasons, the Nigerian may just have found his calling at Stamford Bridge as a wing-back. Even though he’s registered as a midfielder and is having to do a lot of defensive work, he still gets up the pitch often enough to score points.

He’s got one assist and two goals so far and is definitely worth keeping tabs on. It may not be wise to move on him just yet though with Chelsea having to play Tottenham and Manchester City after their encounter with Middlesbrough.
