In the mid-nineties, few strikers could match up to Robbie Fowler in his prime. The former Liverpool striker scored over 30 goals in three consecutive seasons to establish himself as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.

For a club of Liverpool’s stature though, he’s just one of the great strikers to pass through Anfield and he is quick to point that out.

Speaking to Sport360 at the opening of the new Liverpool store at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi, Fowler listed his top five strikers to play for the Anfield outfit.

“Ian Rush is nailed on,” Fowler said. “I would put myself in that category as well.”

“(Luis) Suarez would be in too. (Fernando) Torres was certainly there as well and maybe Michael Owen,” he added.

“I’m sure I’ve missed a few players as well. Daniel Sturridge has been real quality. We’ve been lucky with the players we’ve had at Liverpool. There are a plenty of names.”
